Sign up for WebCenter
Signing up creates a new firm in WebCenter and makes you its first administrator. The whole flow takes a couple of minutes and uses an email confirmation step before your firm is fully activated.
Before you start
Have ready:
- An email address you can check right now (you'll click a confirmation link)
- A name for your firm — this is what employees and reports will show
- A name for your first office (for many firms this is the firm name + the city, e.g., "Smith Tax — Sacramento")
Steps
- Visit the WebCenter sign-up page.
- Fill in:
- Workplace name — Your firm's name.
- Initial location name — Your first office.
- Your name — First and last.
- Username — 3–32 characters; letters, numbers, dots, hyphens, and underscores. Choose something memorable; usernames don't change later.
- Password — Minimum 12 characters. Use a passphrase if that's easier than a string of symbols.
- Email — Where the confirmation link goes.
- Submit the form.
- WebCenter sends a confirmation email and shows you a "check your email" message. Don't refresh, close, or come back to this — proceed to step 5.
- Continue at Confirm your email to finish setup.
Your firm isn't actually created until you click the link in the email. That's intentional: it prevents typos and abandoned signups from leaving phantom firms in the system.
What gets created when you confirm
When you complete the email confirmation, WebCenter sets up:
- Your firm (the tenant) at its starting plan: Free, with a 14-day trial available.
- Your initial office.
- Your administrator account, with the username and password you provided.
- Your timezone — set during confirmation; defaults to the timezone your browser reports.
Free tier limits at sign-up
The Free plan starts you with:
- Unlimited employees — invite as many as you need.
- 1 location — add more by starting a trial or upgrading.
- 1 admin — typically the founder; additional admins require a paid plan.
- 90 days of history — older time clock and mileage data is hidden from reports until you upgrade.
You can start the trial or upgrade any time from Settings → Billing.
Already have an account at another firm?
If you've signed up to WebCenter before — at a different firm — and used the same email, the confirmation step lets you link your existing account. That way you only have one set of credentials for all the firms you work with on WebCenter.
See Working at multiple firms for how multi-firm accounts behave.
