Your first clock-in
Once you've signed up or accepted an invitation, the time clock is the first feature you'll touch. This page walks through the basics so the rest is muscle memory.
Where the clock lives
The clock card is on your dashboard — the page you land on after signing in. You'll see one of two states:
- Clocked Out — A "Clock In" button.
- Clocked In — A "Clock Out" button, plus the time of your last clock-in.
If your firm has more than one office, the dashboard also shows your home office and your default position. You can change either of these for a single clock-in via the dropdown on the clock card.
Clocking in
- Click Clock In.
- A confirmation dialog shows the current time.
- Confirm.
You're clocked in. The card now shows the Clock Out button.
Clocking out
- Click Clock Out.
- Confirmation dialog shows the current time.
- Confirm.
If your firm tracks mileage and you drove during your shift, you'll see a prompt to log mileage at this point. See Mileage.
Rounding
Depending on your firm's settings, your clock-in and clock-out times may be rounded to the nearest interval — typically 15 minutes. The actual time is always preserved (you'll see both the actual and rounded values when you hover any time in the app), but reports and pay calculations use the rounded time.
For example, if you clock in at 9:07am and your firm rounds to 15 minutes, your reported clock-in is 9:00am. If you clock out at 5:23pm with the same rounding, your reported clock-out is 5:30pm.
If your firm doesn't round (it's an admin setting), what you see is what you get to the second.
What if I forget to clock in or out?
Mistakes happen. Your manager or administrator can correct any time clock entry after the fact through the Override workflow. Just let them know — they'll need to know the date and the correct time.
All corrections are recorded with who made the change and why, so there's no concern about edits being hidden.
What if I'm at multiple firms today?
If your account is linked across multiple firms, only one firm is active at a time. Clocking in and clocking out always apply to the firm you're currently signed into. Switch firms from the firm picker in the top navigation.
If you have overlapping shifts at different firms, your My Schedule page warns you about the conflict — see Working at multiple firms and Scheduling.
What if my firm requires verification?
Some firms turn on a setting that requires manager verification of each clock-in or clock-out before the next action is allowed. If that applies to you, you may see a "pending verification" message after clocking in or out, and you'll need to wait for a manager to verify the entry before proceeding.
In practice, this is rare. Ask your admin if you're unsure whether it's on for your firm.
